Op 3, 4 en 5 september 1994 heropent Pink Floyd officieus maar glorieus het gerenoveerde Stadion Feijenoord in Rotterdam. 135.000 mensen zijn aanwezig om de band voor een allerlaatste keer in Nederland aan het werk te zien. Drie intense dagen die voorbij lijken te vliegen, vol dierbare verhalen die generaties verder nog steeds levend worden gehouden dankzij hen die er begin jaren negentig in De Kuip bij zijn.

Zelden worden concerten van Pink Floyd in Nederland zo uitgebreid in beeld gebracht door uiteenlopende bezoekers. Of ze er nu als aandachtig toeschouwer zijn, op uitnodiging van de band of gewoon aan het werk als stadiondirecteur of journalist. Ongevraagd rondneuzen tijdens de opbouw terwijl de voltallige Nederlandse pers buiten de deur wordt gehouden. Heimelijk de concerten ‘tapen’, op video nog wel en dat drie dagen. En wat te denken van kroonprins Willem-Alexander die onopgemerkt en volledig anoniem de laatste avond bezoekt. Verhalen met een – typisch Rotterdams – hoog Pietje Bell-gehalte. Het boek staat er vol mee.

Charles Beterams (1972) bestiert een eigen label, handelt in platen en memorabilia en schrijft zo nu en dan een boek. Little White Wonder, zijn standaardwerk over de opkomst van witte platen – bootlegs – in Nederland, bezorgt hem een plek op de shortlist van de ESNS Pop Media Prijs 2020.

Wouter Bessels (1977) is in het dagelijks leven journalist bij Dagblad van het Noorden en schreef eerder boeken over Pink Floyd en Porcupine Tree. Daarnaast is hij als auteur, mastering engineer en samensteller betrokken bij heruitgaven van artiesten als Golden Earring en Tangerine Dream.

On 3, 4 and 5 September 1994, Pink Floyd unofficially but gloriously reopen the renovated Stadion Feijenoord in Rotterdam. 135,000 people attend to see the band at work in the Netherlands for one very last time. Three intense days that seem to fly by, full of cherished stories that are still kept alive for generations to come thanks to those who were there at De Kuip in the early 1990s.

Rarely are Pink Floyd concerts in the Netherlands so extensively portrayed by a variety of visitors. Whether they are there as attentive spectators, at the invitation of the band or simply at work as stadium directors or journalists. Snooping around uninvited during the build-up while the entire Dutch press is kept out. Secretly taping the concerts, on video as well, for three days. And what about Crown Prince Willem-Alexander who visits the last evening unnoticed and completely anonymously. Stories with a - typically Rotterdam - high Pietje Bell content. The book is full of them.
